Mounting to a Caboose body FauxToys' Platform Filler (Accessory product 2290), is recommended (though not required) to fill the forward platform. The block will strengthen the wrap in that area. Loosen the fastening tabs just barely enough to pull the caboose body off the frame. If the tabs are worked more than a few times or bent more than the minimal amount, they tend to break off. WORKING WITH TABS . Loosen the cupola tabs and remove the cupola. Slots in the roof after removing the cupola and ladder can be filled with wood filler or spackling paste and sanded smooth before painting. SEE HOW. Put tape on the underside of the slots before applying the wood filler. Sand and paint the roof and frame. CLEANING AND PAINTING. On the wrap, cut the horizontal white line under the platform roof-overhang and down the curve, until the cut reaches just below the marker light. Then score and fold sharply on the remaining vertical line. Cut the flaps to about a half inch long, then useScotch® Double Sided Tape to secure the end panel (from the wrap-sheet) to the flaps. On
the round end, if you are mounting the wrap temporarily, cover
the copyright notice with the overlapping flap from the other side, smooth the
wrap tight and secure the two wrap-ends Double
Sided Tape. If mounting the wrap permanently, use
DS tape to secure the edges of the wrap to the car body, then secure the overlapping
ends. If the caboose has an end railing and ladder, cut off the ladder but leave the railing (be sure to file the cut edge smooth). You can paint or use metallic buffing paste to give the railing a gold color if you like. Use epoxy or silicone sealant to glue tabs under platform so the railing doesn't wobble. Use any convenient object to prop the railing in a vertical position while the adhesive dries. Replace the caboose body on the frame and re-bend the tabs the minimum amount to insure a tight fit. | |
