The Kris And The Flame
N Wargame Accessories
for the East Indies in the Era of Rajah Brooke

Studio 33 proudly presents a line of 15mm Warship Models, Buildings,
and Accessories to support TVAG's The Kris And The Flame

The brain child of author, sculptor, gamer, Chris Ferree, his rules for the era of Rajah Brooke debuted at HistoriCon 2003. Not content to provide a rules set for a heretofore ignored period for wargames, Chris produced his own extensive line of 15mm miniatures of Dyaks, Illunan Pirates, Malays, Chinese, Royal Navy Sailors and Royal Marines, all now available from The London War Room.

But never one to do things by halves, he has also begun producing his own models of Native and European Warships for this decidedly amphibious warfare environment. Still more accessories are even now in the works (see below).

Altogether, The Kris And The Flame is already one of the best supported sets of rules ever to come onto the market, and soon the collection will be much larger. Rules, figures, ships, and more are ready to provide Players with some of the most exciting and fast playing land and naval actions you've ever enjoyed, all against some of the most colorful Native Warriors in the world.

From The Introduction
Through the mid-part of the 19th century the area between Singapore and Canton was a virtual "No-Man's Land" for free trade. In the South China Seas, pirates could come from any direction. They came from China, the Philippines, and Borneo ready to swoop in and devour any unsuspecting or disabled merchantman. The task of protecting European interests in the area fell to men like Capt. Henry Keppel of the
H.M.S. Dido , Capt. Rodney Mundy of the H.M.S. Iris , and the most famous of all, the "White Raja of Sarawak," James Brooke. It was their job to penetrate the dark jungle rivers, the uncharted reefs and bays, to strike against the headhunting Dyak, the battle-crazed Illunan, and the calculating Chinaman. In addition to land warfare, rules have been added to conduct shipboard encounters as well. Because the naval rules use the same mechanics as the land game, combined land/naval actions are possible! Now, let's begin this cat and mouse game, set in the vast, exotic theater of Borneo, Sarawak, and the South China Seas....
